About Saarland University
With approximately 17,000 students across more than 100 programs and nearly 4,900 employees, Saarland University is a medium-sized university in Germany. Founded in 1948, the educational institution is recognized worldwide for its excellent research and vibrant start-up culture. Saarland University pioneered the use of an SAP ERP system in the German university landscape when it first introduced the system in 1999 to support administrative accounting (cameralistics). Since 2001, it has also covered commercial operations.
Four universities in Saarland, Saarland University (UdS), Saarland University of Applied Sciences, Saarland University of Music and Saarland University of Fine Arts have migrated the joint SAP Campus Management solution (SLcM) to SAP S/4HANA with the support of SAP and Scheer, deploying it in a private cloud environment (Microsoft Azure). This makes Saarland University the first SAP RISE customer in the field of higher education in Germany.
